Questions about the Smart Chicken doors
Does this automatic coop Door include a Timer?
Yes, it does! Here is a video showing how the timer is set on our automatic door.
How is the Automatic coop door powered?
The standard power option is electric. Included is an electric power cord. You can also upgrade to solar or battery power. Please be advised that using a battery will require a charging source. We recommend that if you are using the battery option, you have several batteries to ensure you always have a charged battery.
What time should I set my Smart Chicken door to open in the morning?
It is normally a good idea to set the door to open when it starts to get light outside. If you open the door too early, predators like foxes may still be roaming around outside. In the summer, 7:00 or a bit earlier is a good time.
Can I add Solar Power to this door?
Yes! Our solar attachment will power your coop. However, you must be sure your chicken coop is in the sun for most of the day and also always be aware of the battery levels to ensure your birds stay safe.
Will an automatic coop door hurt my chickens?
The door will not hurt your chickens if they happen to be in the entrance when it closes. It has a safety sensor to ensure that the door will stop before it crushes your hens.
Are the coop doors difficult to install?
No, the installation process is quite simple and may only take up to an hour. The door comes with clear instructions and all the necessary parts. In most cases, you will only need a screwdriver and a drill. See our blog for complete instructions.
